About

Me

Hello and welcome to my slice of the internet! My name is Tiffany and I describe myself in many ways, woman, Black woman, and as a woman of color. These may sound like one in the same, but to me, they are sometimes vastly different existences. I am also an MBA graduate and aspiring freelance writer. I love traveling, my family, friends, and discussing, working on, and writing about societal/racial/feminist issues.

With this blog I wanted to create a space for women of color to come together and discuss matters pertaining to self-care. For me, self care is an all-encompassing topic because it affects our physical, mental, and spiritual health, and it is something I believe not enough women of color practice. On this blog you can expect discussions on a number of topics including: exercise, eating well, therapy, setting boundaries in relationships, intergenerational healing, journaling, eating disorders, and any number of issues in our daily lives, because it all applies to self-care.

This blog will be a safe space for women of color to come and share how they manage to care for themselves. There will be no telling women how they should behave. I believe all women should be free to express themselves however is best for them, so long as it does not come at the expense of anyone else. With that said, some things that will not be allowed on this blog: denigrating women for how they eat, live, or for what they do with their own bodies.

As in the words of Audre Lorde, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”

This blog is named Act of Rebellion because it is an act of rebellion to truly care for oneself, in a society that does everything in its power to chip away at our self-esteem, self-love, and relationships with each other.
